Hydro
PF Engineers provides technical due diligence on hydro projects

- General - Hydroelectric power generation has been used hundreds of years, whether it was used to turn a generator or a grist mill. While hydro is generally one of the few dispatchable renewable energy sources, there are numerous environmental limitations/issues.
- Experience - We have reviewed Pelton, Francis, and Kaplan technologies. We have reviewed the acquisition of a number of operating hydro assets as well as new build projects. We have worked on run of river, high head, low head, and pumped storage facilities.
- Common Issues - Permitting (FERC licensing), Environmental restrictions, hydrology, construction costs and schedule.
- Risk Mitigants - Ensure the project has solid environmental planning, provide independent check of the hydrology, and detailed construction review with emphasis on contingency.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or if we can help with your hydro project.
