Ethanol Experience
PF Engineers provides technical due diligence on ethanol projects

- General - Ethanol has become an established industry with the production of approximately 15 billion gallons per year. Ethanol is used as an additive to gasoline due to improved environmental performance. This also offsets approximately 10-15 percent of the gasoline easing the dependency on foreign oil.
- Experience - During the ethanol boom, we reviewed approximately 2 billion gallons per year of ethanol facilities utilizing technologies from ICM, Poet, KATZEN, Vogelbusch, and some less common technologies.
- Common Issues - Market risk for feedstock pricing and ethanol pricing. New entry into the ethanol space is now rare. The market risks are an impediment to market entry.
- Risk Mitigants - Feedstock and ethanol offtake agreements. Additional revenue streams such as CO2 and corn oil.
