PF Engineers provides technical due diligence on carbon capture projects

• General - Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) projects are a means to manage CO2. This applies to various potential solutions for dealing with excess CO2.
• Experience - We have reviewed a number of storage projects and utilization projects (i.e. CO2 export from ethanol plants to a CO2 processing plant). The CO2 plants tied to ethanol plants provided a secondary revenue stream even before the tax incentives. Storage projects are a bit more challenging and we have seen verly limited applications for CO2 storage.
• Common Issues - Sub surface risk, auxiliary load requirements to inject CO2 into a subsurface cavern, capital expense, and financial support.
• Risk Mitigants - Ensure the project has an offtake agreement or means to monetize the CO2 collection/storage.
